Now that the new slippers are done....

....i can retire my (felted) space boots (see here; while they were the warmest slippers i've ever worn, i still wore holes in the bottoms since they did not have leather soles.
So I've cut hearts out of them and Eily is having fun making garland.

Slippers

I picked up the slippers again that I started last summer (see http://tomakeaday.blogspot.com/2009_07_24_archive.html). I decided to modify the design a little by not sewing all the way up the sides. I might add a button and elastic closure there and keep these high-top. I also made a pair for Eily which he is delighted about because they're BLUE. I rolled the top of those ones down and added elastic bands.

I'm midway through these slippers, which I partly started just to see if they were possible (side note: i love my new machine!). I promise that this is the last new project I will start. It begins the necesary shift to wool clothing that I must make for the fall sale. I also think that it would be a good habit to get into, given the sentiments of my last post, to break up projects between days or weeks. I might learn a little more patience. Instead of madly finishing, I will now shuck peas in preparation for dinner guests and politely ask the little white worms to leave the free run cherries Rachel and I picked from a downtown tree the other day.

Eily and I had a little mini wetfelting session to get ready for my workshop in a couple weeks. He obviously had more fun with the water than the wool.

These lovely "walking in clouds" slippers were made by Maggie. I want them to last forever so I covered the bottoms in leather.

After a busy week - a paper to write, guests visiting, a short trip to the cottage - I was glad to finally get some crafting in again.

This is a felt lotus bowl. I actually made the brown piece a while ago but it wasn't thick enough to form properly. I really like the addition and think it works so well as a button holder.
