Wooden toys

Eily and i finally finished painting and sealing the wooden helicopter and tractor we bought a year ago. Kinda makes me realize why they were so cheap unpainted.

Hand sewing

Eily has been making pictures with fabric from my scrap pile, doing piecework to plan out projects (like a scarf), and collecting fabric for his own scrap bin.

In honour of this recent delve into textiles, i introduced him to hand sewing today. He's making a star ornament which we'll stuff and gift to the grandparents.

Superhero pants

Or, as we like to say around here (thanks to french class): "Su-pear Ero!"
Which is best when yelled out while running around the yard.

Treasure hunting

A treasure hunt for a rainy (but mild) "Mama-Eily-Gabe" day. Why not dress up too!

It was a farm party....for anyone who knows Eily, of course!  Here's some shots taken specifically for the invites.
Eily's bucket list from the summer has seven things crossed off.  One of the remaining un-crossed off items was "make a cake" which we saved for his birthday party.  We had drawn a picture of what he had in mind.  Turned out to be really helpful in making the finished product.

Grape juice

Yesterday Eily and his cousins made grape juice, by pressing grapes they found in the schoolyard. When i went into the kitchen afterwards, these tools were out.

By the way, the juice was actually pretty good.

Apple seeds

Eily made himself a patio. Here he sits, overlooking his best friend's yard, eating an apple and saving the seeds to plant in his garden.

A small street-side enterprise

Eily has a plan to start selling things by the side of the road. Today, he cut some branches, stripped them, and bundled them. As i've been told, they're for making your hair nice.

Saw Whet's garden

To cheer up our kitten/cat, who's house-bound a few more days while his leg adjusts to the removal of the pin that was helping his leg heal after a fracture, a garden inside:

felted story board

A number of years ago, I found this piece of material at a thrift store and I couldn't turn it down - the background landscape being so suitable for story-telling with felt figures and animals. Eily's pulled it out a few times already, creating a new scene each time.
