So the red rug turned out to be "beaten too hard" (just getting used to hula hoop tension) and it popped off the loom like a fibre basket unstead.  but the kids...and the cats it seems...are happy that it works well as a cat bed.

Wooden toys

Eily and i finally finished painting and sealing the wooden helicopter and tractor we bought a year ago. Kinda makes me realize why they were so cheap unpainted.

MAKE goals 2013

Instead of letting them just roam around in my head, i ought to make a list:
-a wet felted boot tray
-a henhouse out of the old shed at the edge of our property (aka the squirrel's resident)
-needle-felted nativity set
-crochet storage bins to hang above Eily's craft table

I'll probably have more up my sleeve, by say, mid-January.

This list is not to be confused with my shop list which is already as long as my arm.

Hand sewing

Eily has been making pictures with fabric from my scrap pile, doing piecework to plan out projects (like a scarf), and collecting fabric for his own scrap bin.

In honour of this recent delve into textiles, i introduced him to hand sewing today. He's making a star ornament which we'll stuff and gift to the grandparents.

The gift

A few years back i gave Brett the gift of the never-ending coffee mug. If it broke, i'd make another. And it did this past summer.
The first one was hand built, then glazed. For the second, Eily and i went to Luci's Mudhouse where he painted a pre-made one.

Now that the new slippers are done....

....i can retire my (felted) space boots (see here; while they were the warmest slippers i've ever worn, i still wore holes in the bottoms since they did not have leather soles.
So I've cut hearts out of them and Eily is having fun making garland.
