MAKE goals 2013

Instead of letting them just roam around in my head, i ought to make a list:
-a wet felted boot tray
-a henhouse out of the old shed at the edge of our property (aka the squirrel's resident)
-needle-felted nativity set
-crochet storage bins to hang above Eily's craft table

I'll probably have more up my sleeve, by say, mid-January.

This list is not to be confused with my shop list which is already as long as my arm.

handsewn gifts

(finished legwarmers)

(leftovers from three wool hempjes made for a niece and two nephews)

I was also trying to finish a ribbed hat before the knitting went awol at a family reunion. And i'm still contemplating a wool table runner in tonal reds. (Yes, i do know Christmas has past.)

Hand sewing

Eily has been making pictures with fabric from my scrap pile, doing piecework to plan out projects (like a scarf), and collecting fabric for his own scrap bin.

In honour of this recent delve into textiles, i introduced him to hand sewing today. He's making a star ornament which we'll stuff and gift to the grandparents.

Balaclava

I'm working on a balaclava pattern with recycled merino. On one of the hottest days of the year, Gabe didn't seem to mind being my model.

After some alterations, i'm pleased with the new design and fit of the Sew Oiseau soakers. Now i can offer the originals with elastic waistbands and these, with extra wide ribbing or folded knit interlock, all in pure wool:
