so happy

i finished the women's tunic from a man's dress shirt and am thrilled beyond belief. plus, now only have i been introduced to the wonders of elasticized thread, but my stretch stitch function and i have a much healthier relationship. all the more reason to love my sewing machine just a little bit more.

old craft; new idea

last night, i tried smocking for the first time. i can see how it can be so easy but so difficult to do well. i'd love to try it on a tunic made from a man's dress shirt. in the meantime, i tried a girl's tunic/dress from a dress shirt and i'm very pleased with the results. this will be a summertime equivalent to the wool jumpers and a fabulous one-day sewing workshop.
